in Gush Etzion, at the foot of Mt Herodian, the village of

Nokdim

The community of Nokdim was founded in 1982 immediately after the murder of David Rosenfeld, who was a resident of Takoah, and worked as a guard on Herodion. The community was originally called El David in his memory, and was later renamed when the residents build their permanent homes some ten years after. For about ten years, these pioneers lived in mobile homes and maintained themselves in austere conditions. The original camp was later to become the community of Kfar Eldad, where religious and non religious residents coexist in harmony, and maintain strong ties to the Herodian. Nokdim is also the home of Magen Shaul, a pre military yeshiva.
